Are Becca Project products cruelty free?
Yes, most definitely!

Why do we use essential oils in our Becca Project products?
Due to personal health concerns, we became extremely interested in the many benefits that essential oils can provide, but felt that there was not a product on the market that was modern, fresh and easily accessible. So we took what we learnt from all of our research and made something we love... natural organic products that help make our modern busy lives a little nicer.

What is the essential oil quantity in the candles?
At Becca Project we have sourced the purest essential oils we could find to design a product which would smell amazing and give your whole family the benefits of essential oils. Through extensive testing, we have created the perfect ratio of essential oil to wax, that we feel is safest for the entire family. Having young kids of our own it was important to us that our candles were safe to burn with them around and not cause any irritations to the little people.

Where is the essential oil sourced from?
We source our oils from companies who provide the highest quality, authentic oils which they source from approximately 40 different countries all over the world.

How do I care for my candle?
As we use natural wooden wicks it can take a few moments to light your candle for the first time – be patient, it will be worth it.
The initial burn takes time and will set the memory of your candle. To avoid tunnelling, and extend the life of your candle, ensure you burn the wax all the way to the edge of the jar. This will take approximately 2 hours for the small candle and 3 hours for the large candle. If you find your candle is smoking or the flame is too large, trim your wick down to 5mm and relight. You can use a wick trimmer or alternatively use your fingers to break off the tip of the wick.
Do not leave your candle unattended. Keep your candle company while it burns, it likes a friend. Keep it out of reach of children and pets and place on a heat resistant surface – as the container may become hot when burning.

Why do we use a Coconut Soy blend of wax in our Candles?
This wax has a beautiful and natural creamy soy finish and is formulated to retail a smooth and even surface. We found this wax was superior to other wax when blending with essential oils.

Why do we use wooden wicks in our candles?
Wooden wicks create a modern appeal and offer an intriguing visual aesthetic. The crackle of our natural wooden wicks creates a sense of fireside warmth and tranquillity. We found wooden wicks superior to use over cotton wicks when blending with essential oils as they do not mushroom and have less carbon buildup, debris and sooting.

What should I do if my candle starts smoking?
If you find your candle is smoking or the flame is too large, trim your wick down to 5mm and relight. You can use a wick trimmer or alternatively use your fingers to break off the tip of the wick.

Why is my candle not burning to the edge of the jar (tunneling)?
The initial burn takes time and will set the memory of your candle. To avoid tunneling, and extend the life of your candle, ensure you burn the wax all the way to the edge of the jar.
